About Konnectus
KonnectUs is a new cloud-computing software platform by SENSUS designed to make sophisticated networking functions easy and intuitive for users across a range of devices including multitouch tables, desktop computers, tablets, and mobile phones. KonnectUs “Natural Networking Technology (NNT)” empowers users to connect seamlessly across all major platforms – from Windows to Android to iOS. The new software aims to deliver a desktop user experience for key cloud-based services such as file sharing, social networking and location-relevant distribution of content. Additionally, KonnectUs APIs allow developers the opportunity to leverage the power of SENSUS networking technology through integration into third party applications.
About Open Exhibits
Open Exhibits is a National Science Foundation sponsored project that develops and distributes open source multitouch-enabled exhibit modules and templates. The goal of the Open Exhibits community is to transform the way in which museum professionals and informal educators create computer-based exhibits for use in museums and on the Web. The software is free to students, museums, and educational organizations.
Open Exhibits SENSUS integration
SENSUS has developed custom KonnectUs APIs to integrate within the Open Exhibits platform. This collaborative effort brings cloud-based networking features to developers of museum exhibits. Uses for these new features include the ability to easily transfer many different types of file formats (such as images, videos, maps, etc.) between interactive museum installations. The integration of KonnectUs software services within Open Exhibits has the additional benefit of allowing for easy transfer of content to and from the mobile devices of museum visitors, providing a rich interactive experience through a natural and easy to use interface.
Open Exhibits modules enabled with KonnectUs networking technology will be made available in future releases of Open Exhibits. These cloud-based services will be free for museums and other educational institutions as part of the Open Exhibits platform. Private and/or commercial users will be charged a fee for use of KonnectUs services. Initial release of the KonnectUs modules for Open Exhibits is scheduled for the summer of 2011.
